I always saw an injury as a big stop.

An injury stops the current progression and reduce our performance for many days, months,… We cannot train, we have to rest, we lose muscle, mobility…
But thanks to a super sport/jump coach, Kadour Ziani, I changed my way to see injuries.

Firstly, it helps to learn deeply a specific area of your body. As for any domain, it is by failing, or breaking stuff, that you learn the most. But only if you take time to rebuild. Even if you can fix only 80% of the broken part, you can strengthen all nearby areas, and gain massive results at the end. And if you manage to repair 100%, the injured part will be even stronger as if you rebuilt 120% or even more !

You will gain a lot of knowledge through this experience, you will know how the injured part works and you will be able to understand how other parts of your body work. You will be able to prevent injuries or improve your future trainings.

In addition, it helps to change your training routine. You can finally take enough time to do something else. Like stretching for instance, it helps not to get injured and it improves performances. You can as well take the opportunity to strengthen other parts of your body you can still move. Potentially you can get stronger by the end of your recovery. For instance, you can do more abs, core, back strength exercises, if you got injured in your lower parts. You can take more time to develop the upper part while healing the lower part… and vice versa.

It provides extra time to think about your training strategy. You can take time to listen to your body, and rest before going back to your activity. If you got injured, except a stupid accident or an opponent tackle, it is surely because you failed at something. A wrong move, a bad reception, pushing too hard or just a being careless for a second. This period of reconstruction will allow you to improve and strengthen many areas.

Finally, it will boost your mental and determination. Once back to business, you will have a bullet proof motivation. Nothing will stop you. Shitty weather will not be a problem anymore since you are healthy and back at doing what you love to do. Rain, snow, cold, hot, will be minor things to deal with compare what you’ve been trough.

In short, it always sucks to get injured, but you need to see his as an opportunity. Get stocked not stopped !
